In this workshop we will share some practical, manageable, ways teachers can try aspects of a Blended model in their classrooms. After taking a short survey, participants will receive a customized report that compares their current practices and beliefs to the skills needed to facilitate a great blended classroom. From there, we will share video examples and other forms of classroom implementation inspiration to help participants use their customized reports to identify what parts of their current practice support Blended Learning and where they might want to deepen their skills. Teachers will leave the workshop having identified practical skills, concepts and strategies they can try in their classroom.

Learn how to dream about, design and launch a Blended Learning program that meets your school’s unique needs. Will you push the envelope or replicate an existing model? Will you use a learning lab or one-to-one computing? What will the role of the teacher become in your model? Will you use Blended to support competency-based learning, project based learning or another method?
As the first technology agnostic firm in the US to support Blended Learning designs and implementations, The Alvo Institute Team will draw on their extensive implementation experience to facilitate a series of interactive activities that will help participants explore the brief, but fast paced, evolution of Blended Learning.
Participants will learn about the critical design and implementation steps, often overlooked, to launch blended programs with a focus on how to create a Blended program that centers on the instructional needs of the students as well as how to identify program needs and select technology that supports your unique needs.
With guidance from the facilitators participants will learn how to conduct a variety of readiness assessments, ask the critical “getting started” questions, use and develop a project plan, risk/mitigation plan with a collection of Alvo created templates designed to support the design and launch of a blended program. Participants will also be able to work in small groups, interacting with facilitators and their peers, while engaged in real scaffolding and action planning for their school.

• Webinar participants must enter the GoTo Meeting/Webinar at least 20 minutes in advance of their first time using the system to make sure they’re set up properly and ready to begin the session on time.
• GoToMeeting/Webinar requires a small download the first time it is used on a computer. Participants can then confirm their connection, test the audio, etc.
• We recommend using a headset rather than the computer’s speakers/microphone for the best experience. An alternative is to view the visuals on the computer but call in with a phone to hear the audio.
• A steady and fast internet connection will ensure no interruption of the session.
• Please note that times given are Eastern Time (EST or EDT).
